I’m so excited to share the first house I styled for Southern Living is in the October issue that just came out! It was an amazing house filled with the sort of textiles & treasures photo stylists like me swoon over. It brings back all sorts of fun memories: starting 4 hours late because the photographer’s car was stolen before she even left Atlanta to drive to Athens, GA for the shoot, there was a torrential down poor and there were tornado warnings all day, we had 35-45 second exposures to get all that “natural” light you see in the images. Crazy but we managed to make beautiful pictures, dine in great restaurants and have lots of laughs. It was lovely to meet all the folks behind the scenes and the family (and extended family) of the home owners. Stay tuned cause I have 2 more features coming up in the November issue and several already shot for next year too.

As I fill in my new 2010 calendar I look back at the journey that has lead me to event planning I am thankful for the past and optimistic about the future. One door closes and another opens. If you don’t already know (from reading my store blog) I’m in the process of closing my shop and moving full speed ahead into event design and styling. It is an exciting prospect knowing the wonderful brides that have already procured my services. I look forward to theirs and many other weddings in the coming year. So to Scottee, Ashley, Julie, Sydney and Kara I say happy new year and thank you for trusting me with your vision. I feel really lucky to have such terrific brides to work with.

And a big thank you to Kathryn for including us in her Friday roundup. I’m a huge fan of Snippet & Ink so this is a real honor. We are the “darling wedding with travel theme.”
Check her post here.

Real Wedding: Hope & Mike Karney {October 10, 2009}
I had the pleasure of planning their wedding eve family celebration in Savannah and have just a few pictures to share. It was a intimate gathering filled with family, friends, delicious food (starland cafe), champagne punch (my secret recipe) and sweets (back in the day bakery & harris bakery).
I constructed paper pom poms to hang from the ceiling, paper flags for the cupcakes, scattered mecury glass votive holders on tables covered with vintage white table cloths and sweet country flowers in recycled jars. The guest’s favors were Byrd Cookie Company Key Lime Cooler cookies, a Savannah staple. And I must say they devoured my special champagne punch and all the yummy savories from the boys at Starland Cafe. It was a lovely affair just like Hope and Mike.
