My latest feature in Southern Living.
photography by Squire Fox – prop styling Elizabeth Demos – food styling Marian Cooper Cairnes

The copy reads: Three chefs. Five key ingredients. One killer location. What it doesn’t say is: 2 hair stylists, 2 make up people, 2 prop stylists, 2 food stylists, 3 editors, 1 photographer, 1 photo tech, 20+ extras, 20 lanterns, 25 platters, 20+ utensils, 20+ pots and pans, 12 directors chairs, 1 farm table, 1 pine bench, 15+ glass compotes, 4+ peach baskets, 30+ glasses, 30+ plates, 12 napkins, 10+ dish towels, 30+ votives and one GIANT Uhaul (I’m sure I’m forgetting something but you get the picture). Crazy right? No one would really believe what goes on behind the scenes so I thought I would show you the pretty pictures from the 10 page spread and then one of my own during set up. It actually looks tidy but the chaos hadn’t really started.

I’ve neglected the blog for some time now. Mostly because I’ve been super busy but really great stuff has been happening so I thought I should get you caught up. I styled this feature for Southern Living last summer and it appeared in the May issue of Southern Living (click here to read the article). It was an amazing house for so many reasons. I loved meeting the home owners, spending time getting to know all about their businesses (she is an interior designer and he is an architect, a winning combo if you ask me). I have more to come but I will try to pace it out over a few days. I don’t want to seem like a binge blogger (nothing for ages and then loads of posts).

I had the pleasure of helping make some magic happen for the sweetest couple last week. They were eloping and if you know anything about me, you know that I wanted it to be the most special moment for the two of them. Details, details, details. No courthouse with ugly carpet and fluorescent lights for this adorable duo. You really can’t beat our beautiful oak trees in Savannah or the city as a back drop for pictures (even if it rained).
Fab photographyby Jade and Matthew, cake by Kerry O’Connor dressed with ribbons from my old shop @home, dress by Designs by Malyse Designs hair and makeup by Catie Starr, ceremony conducted by Ruby McGrory, GIANT letters made by my amazing carpenter hubby. Bouquet, boutonniere and flower arrangements, Bellini’s, heart shaped fans, heart shaped rice krispie treats, to go picnic basket, ribbon streamers, GIANT balloons, crazy amount of vintage paper straws and vintage wares all by me. Yes I’m crazy but look at these people, wouldn’t you do the same, SOOOO cute!

These are the images from the Beholden photo shoot for Anthropologie. I had the pleasure of working with Charlie Welch and Aaron Carmanis and the renowned photographer Koto Bolofo. I love my job! Such talented people!

I have had the pleasure of knowing Karen Langsten and Coleen Smith, the two business women behind the new Savannah company Savannah Plush ,for some time. They hired me on as a development and business consultant for their venture and I was happy to be a part of it. I refered them to friends and fellow business people that could help get things rolling and boy oh boy did they. Special thanks to Low Country Press for the beautiful graphic design, Paragon for their web design and programing support and to George Gill of Blue Door Photography for his beautiful photography. Most of all, thank you Karen and Coleen for trusting me with the art direction and photo styling for your new brand. I can’t wait to see where this all takes us!
