Featured on Manner & Lane

August 2nd, 2012 — 6:30pm

I was recently featured on the inspirational website Manner & Lane. The site is home to a collection of expertly curated lifestyle guides for Southern Women and is a daily read of mine. Click here to see my entertainment feature and be sure to sign up for their newsletter which is packed full of must-have knowledge for the everyday southern gal.

A little about what’s behind Manner & Lane

Today’s Southern woman has a strong sense of culture, significance and her own unique perspective. She longs to enjoy a full life, but one with fewer distractions that is defined by meaning and her own identity—to enjoy a less complicated, rich existence, rooted in the place and with the people she loves.

Manner & Lane aims to curate and celebrate this view. From entertaining friends to supporting causes we believe in, discovering a designer that elevates our style and everything in between, we’re on a search for uncommon quality, intriguing culture and enriching stories.

Manner is the way we live. To be Southern is a distinct approach. Our heritage has taught us to cherish what matters most and to carry ourselves with class and strength, grace and hospitality.

Lane is the path we take. We aim to be the online destination that supports you in the journey to further refine who you are—along the way exploring relevant items of culture, cuisine, art, music, style, health, knowledge and more.

In a world overloaded with information, bombarding us with so many expectations of what a woman should be, we know that part of our beauty and passion for life is rooted in our uniqueness, both as individuals and as Southern women. We know we can’t be all things to all women, but we hope to provide a curated guide through the haze and expectations of society. Through our free bi-weekly email publication and website,Manner & Lane strives to produce authentic and distinct editorial content to make the art of living well easily accessible.

recent work

January 10th, 2011 — 11:59pm

I have had the pleasure of knowing Karen Langsten and Coleen Smith, the two business women behind the new Savannah company Savannah Plush ,for some time.  They hired me on as a development and business consultant for their venture and I was happy to be a part of it.  I refered them to friends and fellow business people that could help get things rolling and boy oh boy did they.  Special thanks to Low Country Press for the beautiful graphic design, Paragon for their web design and programing support and to George Gill of Blue Door Photography for his beautiful photography.  Most of all, thank you Karen and Coleen for trusting me with the art direction and photo styling for your new brand.  I can’t wait to see where this all takes us!

weddings unveiled blog feature

December 31st, 2010 — 6:36pm

flattered and excited to have Scottee and Jim’s wedding featured on weddings unveiled blog!

Real Wedding ~ Scottee and Jim

Scottee and Jim chose Savannah, GA for their intimate Southern soiree filled with beautiful vintage details and designed in rich color palette by event designer Elizabeth Demos. Photographer Donna Von Bruening of DVB Photographers was on hand to capture the day. Scottee looked gorgeous in her chic Carolina Herrera gown with fitted bodice and bubbled tier skirt tied with black and ivory striped ribbon. She wore her hair up with braids pulling her dark locks away from her face and adding a pretty pair of crystal beaded earrings, while Jim kept it simple in a classic fitted black suit and tie with vintage inspired boutonniere made of pheasant, black and Bordeaux colored feathers. Situated in the English-inspired parterre garden of the historic Owen-Thomas House close family and friends gathered for the intimate ceremony. Arrangements of white and yellow blooms decorated the space and set on the table where a quaint little seating area with iron benches was nestled in the gardens. Scottee and Jim exchanged vows flanked by two trees and in front of the small reflecting fountain situated in the center of the gardens.

After a few celebratory drinks of Kentucky bourbon served out of vintage silver rimmed glassware the celebration continued at The Olde Pink House for the dinner reception. Savannah’s only 18th century mansion provided the perfect venue for the couple’s decadent reception of elegant Southern cuisine. The rich event palette and vintage details of the reception worked seamlessly with the already preexisting decor of The Old Pink House. Guest tables were situated around the room and set by the fireplace where tall gold fluted vases held heart shaped wreaths made from small white blooms and vines. A variety of rich purple linens dressed the tables accented with gold chivari chairs. Scottee and Jim’s table featured a beautiful lilac embroidered and eyelet base linen set with a deep aubergine velvet overlay trimmed in gold embroidery and tassels. Florist Harvey Designs created stunning centerpieces of mixed white and purple blooms ranging from a light wisteria hue to dark indigo all set in vintage gold vessels on antique mirror trays. Aged mercury votives adorned the tabletops adding a warm glow to the intimate dinner reception. Don’t miss a single detail of Scottee and Jim’s historic Savannah wedding, including the couple’s unique display of old family photos.
